Plans for the renovation were first announced in 2018 due to a “lack of services and adequate space. Construction was due to start in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic and an increase in the estimated project costs pushed the start date back.
Evans, who passed away at 50 years old, was remembered by Duke School of Medicine community members as "sustained excellence and extraordinary contributions to clinical nephrology" and "creating a nurturing professional environment."
The temporary package pickup center resided in the Crowell building during move-in but has since moved to the former location of the convenience store on the side of Brown dorm.
