North Carolina voters will elect 14 representatives and one senator for the federal election.
On Monday, Black students gathered at Penn Pavilion to celebrate Duke’s eighth annual Black Convocation.
Governor Roy Cooper partnered with the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission to honor a number of Black North Carolinians who have made significant contributions to STEM fields. Among them are one of Duke’s first African American graduate students and two professors.
“When we went strictly virtual, I still had to compete with other things. It's hard to compete with YouTube and Fortnite, but even then, there's a lot on students and their parents as well, especially at Title I schools,” one teacher said.
“Like I tell my advisees, I can be many things for you: I can be your hype man, I can be your shoulder to cry on, and if I can’t be any of those things, I can help you find that person,” said Kisha Daniels, FIR in Gilbert-Addoms.
