Ultimately, Yeshurun said that his goal as Young Trustee would be to “serve the larger Duke community, whether it be the students, the faculty and everybody else, you know—the people who work here that make this a great place. I hope to serve them.”
Anderson’s identities “mean a lot” in terms of holding student leadership positions at a predominantly white institution like Duke. She’s been able to navigate being an empathetic leader and has also learned to be firm and make tough decisions.

Parkash has four initiatives where she hopes to collaborate with the Board of Trustees: increasing Duke’s focus on STEM retention for women and people of color, helping Duke become a leader in the global space, focusing on inclusion and diversity and increasing Duke’s relationship with the Durham community.
“I have truly given the past three plus years to this institution, not only to serving my fellow peers but to serving our university as a whole. I think it’s very gratifying work, it’s very important work, and it’s work that I’d love to continue,” Majmudar said.
Strunk attributed his mentality toward life to being a cancer survivor, which showed him the importance of “experiencing the joys of many different things, whether it’s adventure or the people you’re with.”

During her tenure, McClain focused on enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in graduate education and increasing financial and professional development resources for graduate students.
