Licensed kegs obtained from a brewery or ABC store will now be allowed in the common spaces of residence halls on West Campus and other spaces reserved for events involving alcohol.

Governor Roy Cooper partnered with the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission to honor a number of Black North Carolinians who have made significant contributions to STEM fields. Among them are one of Duke’s first African American graduate students and two professors.

As a first-generation American and college graduate, De Brigard had to “figure out a lot of things on [her] own.” She believes the diverse perspective she brings from this experience is an asset she could bring to the Board of Trustees, in addition to having a legal background.
“I quickly saw that being engaged in the Board of Trustees was an effective way to make sure medium- and long-term visions aligned with current work that is being done. We have so many opportunities to make a significant change,” Virgüez said.
