DSG hears presentation about Cultural Engagement Fund, provides updates on committee projects

Lauren Denton, associate director of the Center for Multicultural Affairs, gave a presentation to DSG regarding the Cultural Engagement Fund and its uses. The fund is designed to primarily help undergraduate student groups fund programs and events regarding the arts, cross-cultural collaboration, multiculturalism and social justice.

A look into changes in Duke Law School's admissions process in response to affirmative action ruling

Duke Law School previously required a personal statement and offered applicants two optional essay prompts: a diversity statement and a statement of interest. After the Supreme Court’s decision, Duke Law School kept the personal statement and the optional statement of interest, but replaced the diversity statement with short essays.

The academic affairs committee has officially launched Blue Devil Bridges, which pairs students with alumni, similar to how Blue Devil Buddies pairs incoming students with current students. The program, which is open to all sophomores, juniors and seniors, has seen over 1,000 alumni and roughly 400 students sign up.
