To attend the U.S. Open, swimmers must achieve certain time standards set by USA Swimming, considered the fastest qualifying times behind U.S. Olympic Team Trials. This past week, ten of Duke’s underclass swimmers suited up to attend the 2024 U.S. Open in Greensboro, N.C.
Duke’s first-half defense was impeccable, forcing Virginia Tech to 12 turnovers. The Blue Devil defense was scrappy and filled with tremendous heart, racking up eight steals compared to only one from the Hokies.
Duke spent its Sunday in the home of mint julep and horse racing after casting its bets against Louisville for the first ACC matchup of the season. After a slow, stumbling first half, the Blue Devils found rhythm enough in the KFC Yum! Center to turn the game around for a 76-65 road victory.
After a heavy loss to South Carolina Thursday, the Blue Devils went home angry and ready to get another win under their belt. Freshman Toby Fournier paced the team, scoring a team-high 27 points and coming up just one rebound short of a double-double.
No. 9 Duke men’s basketball hit the road for a matchup against Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center. After 20 minutes of play, the Blue Devils head into the locker room with a 37-33 deficit.
Even despite the tough loss, this game had a lot of value for the Blue Devils. Duke showed significant maturity by sticking in the game until the end and battling up to the final buzzer, proving that it is capable of making one of the best teams in the country sweat and showcasing a level of fight that will be necessary as the Blue Devils head into a grueling conference schedule.
Duke football was selected to play in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, which will take plan Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m.

It obviously doesn’t hurt to have freshman Isaiah Evans be unconscious from deep in the first half, but the real reason behind this win is that every Blue Devil played within their roles. And what happens when everybody plays to their strengths is the team doesn’t force things, the offense flows smoothly and the defense is a juggernaut.

Signing day — and the buildup to it — is always full of surprises, but when it was all said and done, Duke received commitments from a total of 27 recruits in this period, with the recruiting class currently ranked No. 33 in the nation according to 247Sports.
The second was true for freshman Isaiah Evans Wednesday night, as his six first-half triples paved the way for No. 8 Duke’s 84-78 win at home against the second-ranked Auburn Tigers. Graduate guard Sion James — who made his debut in the starting lineup — chipped in nine crucial points, and freshman Cooper Flagg recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
