'His ability is special': Patrick Ngongba II shines in debut for No. 6 Duke men's basketball against Wofford

The aforementioned offensive boards were two of his five Saturday afternoon — a team-high. He added on a defensive rebound for a total of six, the second most on the team in only 11 minutes. Ngongba’s vision was also on display throughout, with two assists on 3-pointers. Despite not seeing the floor until today, Ngongba proved to be an outstanding talent.

With every missed layup or free throw, the Blue Devils left the door open. Shooting just 53.8% from the line and converting only 20-of-42 layups, they fell behind in execution, compared to the Terrapins’ 79.2% free-throw rate. In a competitive road game, any shot could have been the difference-maker. But with missed chances mounting, the team ultimately watched Maryland secure a hard-fought victory.
