Student Commencement speech bears striking resemblance to 2014 Harvard student address

When student speaker Priya Parkash took the stage in Wallace Wade Stadium at Sunday’s Class of 2022 Commencement ceremony, she dubbed the University as its own “Duke nation.” That metaphor, as well as other elements of the language and structure of Parkash’s speech, bears striking similarities to that of a 2014 Harvard University Commencement speech by Sarah Abushaar.

Arts & Sciences Council approves health policy certificate, discusses bylaws in final meeting of academic year

The Council started by voting to approve the new health policy certificate proposal, which will be a joint venture between the Sanford School of Public Policy and the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy. Despite faculty raising concerns about the proposal in the Council’s previous meeting, the vote to approve it passed with an overwhelming majority.
