Duke uses AI tool to monitor online threats, denies tracking student activity

Navigate360 Detect, formerly known as Social Sentinel, is advertised as a “threat detection” service that looks for certain keywords that may indicate harm to individuals or institutions. The company says it’s not designed to monitor protests, but the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and other institutions used the service to do that, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Bryan Stevenson discusses truth, redemption, justice in lectures at Duke

Stevenson, a public interest lawyer, author of “Just Mercy" and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, engaged in a public discussion with Luke Powery, dean of Duke Chapel, for the Chapel’s inaugural William Preston Few Lecture on Sept. 21. He delivered the fall 2022 Terry Sanford Distinguished Lecture on Sept. 22, discussing what it means to fight for justice.
