Vincent Price took office in 2017 as Duke’s 10th president. Less than three years into his tenure, it fell to him to lead the University through a global pandemic. Queeristan event series creates a space for queer Muslims at Duke

Ever since becoming student development coordinator at the Center for Muslim Life in April 2019, Maryam Arain, alongside Director and Chaplain Joshua Salaam, has striven to reach out to marginalized Muslim students. However, after the onset of COVID-19, it became difficult to reach out to queer members of the community because it was harder to have organic interactions.

'Democracy is not just people voting': Former Bogotá mayor and Duke alum talks urban planning, time in office

In a virtual talk hosted by Duke’s Latin American Student Organization, Enrique Peñalosa, Trinity ‘77 and former mayor of Bogota, Colombia, discussed his work as the mayor of Bogota, his views on democracy and his time as an undergraduate at Duke. Peñalosa is known for his urban planning efforts, which have been recognized and used as a model worldwide.
