The 13th-ranked Blue Devils stepped off the bus in Charlottesville, Va., with a vengeance against their old-time ACC rival, No. 15 Virginia. Despite a powerful first period, Duke fell to the Cavaliers 16-11 after a drastic comeback in the third quarter.

In a down-to-the-wire contest, 13th-ranked Duke pulled off a stunning upset against No. 9 Clemson. In a true team effort, new and old Blue Devils alike recovered Duke from a two-point deficit with three goals in the last seven minutes to secure Duke’s first ACC road win of the season, 12-11. Just two days later, the Blue Devils continued their road conquest in Buies Creek, N.C., taking down Campbell 16-14.
No. 9 Duke had all the tools it needed to escape Saturday’s trap game at Koskinen Stadium. A devastating ride, excellent clearing, overwhelming faceoff advantage and career game from graduate attacker Eric Malever made the difference against the Falcons, resulting in an unconvincing-at-times but ultimately solid 16-11 win for the Blue Devils.

Two goals apiece from Luke Grayum and Benn Johnston, plus a dagger of a goal from long-stick midfielder Mac Christmas powered a 7-0 Blue Devil run that spanned nearly 26 minutes in the second half. Duke’s defensive physicality exhausted the Quakers and ground their offensive prowess to a halt. Finally, Goalie Patrick Jameison contributed a sharper second half to quell the few opportunities Penn did create.
The 19th-ranked Blue Devils dismantled Xavier in Koskinen Stadium 16-9, fighting through a physical contest that included eight green cards and a yellow card from the visitors. This followed an 11-9 conference win against No. 17 Notre Dame Friday. Against the Musketeers, the defensive duo of juniors Sydney Smith and Madison Beale locked down their own zone, while both veterans and freshmen relentlessly attacked on the other end.
Boston College led for nearly the entire game, expanding their lead with an aggressive offense and well-timed shots on goal en route to a dominant 19-10 victory. The Blue Devils, however, became the first team this season to score at least 10 goals against the Eagles, spearheaded by sophomore Bella Goodwin’s two goals and one assist.
Down two goals with four minutes left in the game, McAdorey scored back-to-back to send the game to overtime, then scored the game-winner to push No. 7 Duke past No. 21 Michigan 8-7. The result, which looked in serious jeopardy for most of Saturday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium, was the Blue Devils’ first ranked win of the season.

In a nail-biting contest, No. 19 Duke lost to No. 10 Johns Hopkins in a 12-11 overtime defeat. Despite an eight-point performance from senior attacker Carly Bernstein, the Blue Devils were no match for the trio of Ashley Mackin, Ava Angello and Lacey Downey, who combined for 15 points on the day.
The eighth-ranked Blue Devils kicked off their six-game homestand with a tight 11-9 win against Saint Joseph’s. Overcoming a game-long battle to clear the ball and find an offensive rhythm, a hat trick from senior midfielder Andrew McAdorey, a career-best game for sophomore long-stick midfielder Mac Christmas and a commanding effort at the faceoff by junior Luke Engelke powered a game that left their undefeated record intact.
No. 25 Duke overcame a rocky first half to pull off a 17-6 victory against High Point Sunday, capping off a two-game homestand. Graduate student Callie Hem, sophomore Bella Goodwin and senior Carly Bernstein each had hat tricks on the day, while redshirt junior Kennedy Everson made five saves between the pipes.
No. 7 Duke shook off a difficult first half to take down the Dolphins 14-9 on the road. Luke Grayum and Jack Pappendick led the way with three goals apiece, while the defense improved drastically from a leaky first half to only allow three goals in the final 30 minutes of play.
Duke has had a rocky two-year stretch. Now, it has to deal with the losses. Head coach Kerstin Kimel and her crew are entering 2025 at No. 25, with expectations similar to last year’s production.
