When two of the nation’s top five teams take the court for tonight’s battle in Columbus, Ohio, the eyes of the college basketball world will be on Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger and William Buford.
Three days, three games and three wins. And for the fifth time, the Blue Devils can call themselves the champions of Maui.
A last-second bank shot was all that separated Duke from its biggest win of the early season.
The Volunteers entered last night’s game against Duke having nailed 26 3-pointers in their opening two contests.
While most people will be enjoying Thanksgiving in the comfort of their own homes, the Blue Devils hope to be feasting on the competition in the Bahamas.
After a lackluster performance on the glass against Brigham Young in its season opener, Duke responded strongly Friday against Auburn in its first home game.
Head coach Mike Krzyzewski quipped that at halftime of his team’s 82-69 victory over Davidson, he was not sure that there was going to be a celebration.
One week after Belmont nearly upset Duke on its home floor, the Blue Devils received a scare from another well-coached mid-major program.
Now, the focus can finally shift from Krzyzewski’s historic pursuit to his team, beginning with Friday’s contest against Davidson (2-0). And Krzyzewski wouldn’t have it any other way.
In the team’s earliest scheduled starting time of the year, No. 8 Duke (1-0) plays the Tigers (2-0) Friday at noon.
