Abbott’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Crossovers in television and film

Picture this: you are eight again, transported back to your childhood. You eagerly leap out of bed and run to the television. There was a thrill that came with knowing a crossover episode was coming. It was like finding out two separate worlds — both familiar and beloved — were going to collide in a way that defied reality and felt like a personal gift. When the episode finally aired, it was never disappointing. Seeing characters you knew so well interact in a different setting felt almost magical, like discovering a hidden world you were not supposed to see. They would meet each other with that same blend of curiosity and skepticism that you had imagined, and you would watch them figure each other out, bringing bits of their own worlds with them. 


Brat's back with more club classics

2024 has been dubbed the year of “brat,” and rightfully so, as Charli XCX’s sixth studio album has taken over our minds, radios and politics. Since its release on June 7, the album has amassed over 1.5 billion streams on Spotify and received critical acclaim, currently standing as Metacritic’s most critically acclaimed album of the year. Songs from the album sparked cultural movements, with fans worldwide displaying their “brat” apparel and doing viral “brat” TikTok dances.


‘Down south dirt’: Ashon Crawley lectures on art and environmental justice

What are the implications of Southern dirt for the soul of man? At 5:28 p.m., Oct. 23, Ashon Crawley answered this question in one of the Nasher's small lecture halls. The room was filled mostly with academics and friends — save for the stray Focus group — of Ashon Crawley (Graduate School ‘13), this year’s Nannerl O. Keohane Distinguished Visiting Professor. 




Duke students voting in Durham: Should they have a say on bond referenda?
