Duke Student Government senators allocated $6,372.50 in Student Organization Finance Committee funding and completed an information technology survey in a 20-minute meeting Wednesday evening.
Senators completed a survey by the undergraduate representatives of the Information Technology Advisory Council, which asked respondents to rate their experiences with services including Canvas, DukeHub, Stellic, TransLoc, Mobile Order and on-campus Wi-Fi. The survey, which is open to all Duke undergraduates, also asked students about cybersecurity measures they employ and their perspective on the impact of artificial intelligence on academic integrity at the University.
The meeting’s agenda reminded senators to complete a survey by the campus life committee regarding interest in a first-year equivalency option at Pitchfork’s.
The academic affairs committee is also rolling out a survey on study space preferences and accepting mentor and mentee sign-ups for Major Moment, its within-major mentorship program.
SOFC allocations
Senators unanimously approved three SOFC funding requests.
United in Praise: $2,700 funded in full for its April 12 Spring Easter Concert in Goodson Chapel.
duARTS: $1,710 out of its requested $3,439.31 for Plazapalooza — the kickoff event of the annual Arts Fest featuring artists, performers and craft activities — with reusable event supplies and catering cut. The food allocations were deemed “not essential to the event” due to the wide range of available activities.
Duke Ishq: $1,962.50 out of its requested $2,385 for a Bollywood and hip-hop fusion performance featuring Duke Dhamaka, Duke Rhydhun and Duke Swing, with the videographer allocation reduced and brochures cut.
