The Blue Devils have their new signal caller.

Former Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah is reportedly transferring to Duke, according to an X post by ESPN's Pete Thamel. Mensah was on campus Tuesday for a visit, including attending the Blue Devils' 72-46 win against Incarnate Word

The redshirt freshman from Tulane will have three years of eligibility remaining, replacing former Texas quarterback Maalik Murphy, who started in all 12 games this regular season for the Blue Devils. This announcement comes after Murphy and Grayson Loftis both announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal

Mensah was the top-rated player in the transfer portal according to ESPN, and the former four-star recruit committed to Tulane in December 2022.

Mensah started 13 games for the Green Wave, throwing for 2,723 yards and 22 touchdowns, while totalling just six interceptions. His quarterback rating of 76.5 ranked 20th in the nation.

While Mensah struggled slightly in games against higher-quality opponents — throwing for a combined five touchdowns and three interceptions in three games against ranked opponents — his overall production shined throughout the year. Tulane lost its final two games of the season to Memphis and Army in the American Athletic Conference championship game to miss out on a shot at the College Football Playoff.

Mensah also showed a penchant for running the ball at times, notching 60 carries for 132 yards. Even when he did not cross the line of scrimmage, Mensah routinely rolled out of the pocket to make plays downfield with his arm.

Despite his commitment to Duke, Mensah will not be eligible to play in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl against Ole Miss Jan. 2.
