Jordan Wood will face stiff competition for minutes in her sophomore season.

With the college basketball season right around the corner, it's time for the Blue Zone to break down the 2024-25 Duke women's basketball roster. We previously looked at Jenessa Cotton. Next up is sophomore forward Jordan Wood:

Jordan Wood

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6-foot-4

Position: Forward

Last year’s stat line: 4.8 MPG, 1.4 PPG, 0.2 APG

Game breakdown: Wood, a Chicago native, returns to the court for her second season as a Blue Devil. With 14 game appearances last season, she showed some potential to contribute on both ends of the floor.

In her debut campaign, Wood’s impact across the stat sheet was small but well-diversified. Her performance against Coastal California was arguably her best of the year, as she clinched career-highs of six rebounds and four steals in 14 minutes off the bench. With that being said, she only scored in five of the 14 games for which she took the floor, putting up a season-high six points against Coppin State. In the upcoming season, Wood’s length, defensive tenacity and hustle may prove useful to Duke’s defensive scheme if she can further aid in rebounding and rim protection.

Role on the team: As one of five forwards on the Blue Devils’ roster, Wood shouldn’t expect much playing time. Though she is more familiar with Duke’s program and head coach Kara Lawson’s expectations, talented newcomers like Toby Fournier or Jenessa Cotton will likely see more minutes on the court. However, Wood’s experience from last year could prove useful in helping to guide these new Blue Devils to success.
