Just before the start of the season, the Blue Devils have added a huge piece to next year’s squad.

On Friday, Emilee Skinner, the No. 7 overall recruit in the class of 2025 according to ESPN, told On3 of her decision to join Duke’s roster next season. She is the first commit for head coach Kara Lawson in this cycle.

The Millville, Utah, native was the 2023-24 Utah MaxPreps Player of the Year, leading Ridgeline High School to a 4A Utah state championship. The 6-foot point guard averaged 24.1 points and 7.9 rebounds throughout the campaign, scoring less than 20 in just three contests and piloting her squad to a 25-2 record.

Skinner figures to compete with Oluchi Okananwa and Taina Mair next season for minutes at the point guard spot, and will certainly be another dynamic player to add to Lawson’s roster as she continues an impressive run on the recruiting trail.

In the recruitment of Skinner, the Blue Devils beat out multiple programs including Iowa, Notre Dame and UCLA.

Duke tips off its season Nov. 4 against Radford.
