The Brotherhood is once again a family affair.
Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twin sons of former Blue Devil Carlos Boozer, announced their commitment to Durham Friday morning in a YouTube video. Outside of Duke, both brothers visited Miami, Kentucky and Florida, but the decision reportedly came down to the Blue Devils and the home-state Hurricanes.
Despite being twins, the Miami natives are very distinct players due to their stature. Cameron, who is a 6-foot-9 power forward with the ability to dominate in the paint, is ESPN’s No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2025. He is a versatile wing who can space the floor and has a nice shot release that will translate well to the college level. Boozer’s vision can provide a dynamic explosiveness to any offense; he averaged 22 points and 11.4 rebounds per game last season with Columbus High School, both team highs.
Cayden brings a different threat to the court. He is a 6-foot-4, true point guard who can control the pace of play. His passing is stellar, recording 6.6 assists per game on the EYBL circuit and leading his high school in that category with 7.6 per game. While his outside shot is not fully polished, he can score inside by efficiently using his body to shield defenders.
Both players are five-star prospects and will certainly bring a jolt of energy into next year’s team. They have built-in chemistry evident in the high school tape, with one seemingly always knowing where the other is on the court. The Boozers are the first commits for head coach Jon Scheyer’s 2025 recruiting class.
Duke’s 2024 squad kicks off its regular season Nov. 4 against Maine, with exhibitions Oct. 19 against Lincoln (Pa.) and Oct. 27 against Arizona State.
