As we enter June, the Research Triangle is celebrating the LGBTQ community for Pride Month. If you’re staying on campus or are in the Triangle for the summer, here are some events you can attend to celebrate Pride.
Pride Night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park
Pride Night is up to bat at Durham Bulls Athletic Park as the Bulls take on the Gwinnett Stripers June 6 at 6:35 p.m. The field and ballpark will adorn rainbow decorations, and fans can enjoy a special $1 deal for Sahlen's Hot Dogs.
The event is hosted in partnership with ViiV Healthcare, a pharmaceutical company focused on HIV and AIDS medicines and treatment. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster starting at $10.
Pride Night Market
With Fae & Ghoul Collective, the Glass Jug Beer Lab in Durham will be hosting its first Pride Night Market June 8 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The free event will include food, such as Gator on the Grill food truck, as well as music and local art vendors.
Pride Party
Join Safe Space Salon in celebrating Pride Month at its Pride Party at 3204 Guess Road in Durham.
The event kicks off June 9 at 2 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. The all-day gathering will highlight more than 30 local vendors. Activities include a late-night drag show, Drag Story Hour and all-day karaoke.
Pride Block Party
Auroraflow will put on a Pride Block Party June 15 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will occur at 607 William Vickers Ave. in Durham.
The celebration will feature local vendors and live performances from Loveless, Stormie Daie, Dustin Reames, Disco Daddi and Kevin Bloo. Funds raised during the Block Party will be sent to Sacred Solidarity, a fund for Palestinian refugees in Egypt.
Out! Raleigh Pride
The Out! Raleigh Pride event takes place June 22 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fayetteville St. in downtown Raleigh.
The annual gathering celebrates Raleigh’s LGBTQ community for its 12th year in a row and raises money for the LGBT Center of Raleigh. The event is free and will feature a beer garden, food, entertainment, local artists and vendors.
Pride Dance Party
Dram and Draught in Durham will host a Pride Dance Party June 29 from 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. The event will feature DJ Webbie and specialty cocktails.
There is no entry fee, and attendees can reserve their spots in advance at no additional cost.
