The All-ACC softball awards were announced Wednesday afternoon, and Duke was historically honored. The Blue Devils won four of the five major awards, and had five players on the All-ACC teams.

Head coach Marissa Young won Coach of the Year in her eighth season at the helm. Claire Davidson and Jala Wright were unanimously awarded for Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. Finally, infielder Aminah Vega was named Defensive Player of the Year.

These accolades were all the first in Duke program history.

Young recently eclipsed 250 wins with the Blue Devils, and has led the team to the top of the league and the country. Duke is the No. 1-seed in the conference for the first time in school history, and seeks to make another run in the NCAA Championship.

Davidson is having a career season, leading the ACC at in-conference batting average (.507) and on-base percentage (1.821). She recorded 17 home runs and 61 RBI’s as well.

Wright boasts an overall ERA of 1.15, good for fourth in the country. The senior is one of three pitchers to record an undefeated record across the league. Finally, Vega has a .990 fielding percentage with only one error, as the sophomore has helped anchor a remarkably tough defense at second base.

Vega, Davidson and Wright were joined by sophomore pitcher Cassidy Curd on the All-ACC First Team, and freshman outfielder Amiah Burgess was on the All-ACC Third Team and Freshman Team.

The Blue Devils begin the ACC tournament Thursday at 11 a.m.
