What to know about staying on-campus this Thanksgiving break

Thanksgiving means traveling home for many Duke students, but some Blue Devils will be feasting on their turkey in Durham this week. With break just around the corner, here is how Duke facilities will be operating from Wednesday through next Monday.

Housing

Students on East and West Campus residents will have access to their own residence halls and quads during Thanksgiving break. However, access to other residential buildings will be restricted, and the Housing and Residence Life office will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Duke Dining

All Duke Dining locations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day besides The Skillet, which will be open from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. On Friday, McDonald’s will be open from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., and the Nasher Museum Cafe will be open from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Ginger & Soy, Gyotaku, Il Forno, and Sazon will close on Thursday and reopen on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m., with other Brodhead Center dining locations returning to regular hours next Monday.

Marketplace will be closed from Wednesday to Saturday. The first meal served on Sunday will be dinner.

Duke transportation

Transit services will run on a modified schedule beginning  Wednesday and will return to normal operation  Sunday.

On Wednesday, one C1 will be in service from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m., and one Swift Express will be in service from 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Duke Vans will run regularly until 11:59 p.m.

Duke Transit and Duke Vans services will not be available on Thanksgiving Day.

On Friday, the Duke bus schedule will operate the same as Wednesday’s, but Duke Vans will not be in service.

Recreational facilities and Student Health

On Wednesday, Wilson Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Brodie Gym will be open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

All recreational facilities will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Student Health will be closed from Wednesday at 12 p.m. and will reopen next Monday at 8 a.m.
