Bo Shaffer comes to Duke after four years with UCCS.

As the college basketball season looms, it's finally time for the Blue Zone to preview the 2022-23 Duke women's basketball roster. First up is Bo Shaffer:

Bo Shaffer

Year: Graduate student

Height: 5-foot-7

Position: Guard

Last year’s statline: 2.1 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 1.0 APG, 17.3 MPG (UCCS)

Game breakdown: As a guard, Shaffer’s game naturally relies primarily on mid-range shots and her ability to facilitate play for her teammates. Despite this, Shaffer has proven herself a skillful rebounder when required—she logged eight rebounds, six of which were defensive, in 33 minutes against Colorado State-Pueblo—and a semi-regular disher of assists, with 27 across the 2021-22 season and a career-best 29 the year prior. Shaffer, while not a scorer in abundance, was a handy backup option for the Mountain Lions, seeing a notable uptick in minutes from her freshman to senior campaigns and a relatively steady two-point-something points per game in four years.

Role on the team: As an academic transfer and walk-on without a position listed on the team’s website, Shaffer is unlikely to see any game time, even as a late-game substitute in lopsided contests.

Projected stats: 0.0 MPG, 0.0 RPG, 0.0 APG, 0.0 MPG
