Vice President for Administration Kyle Cavanaugh has been named the National Basketball Association’s new President of Administration, the NBA announced Tuesday.
Cavanaugh will join the NBA in June. This news comes less than two months after Cavanaugh announced that he will retire from his position at Duke in September 2022.
Cavanaugh will replace current NBA President of Administration Bob Criqui. His roles will involve overseeing “global facilities, information technology, security, risk management, people and inclusion, and administrative affairs,” according to the NBA’s press release.
“I am thrilled to have been invited to join the leadership team at the NBA and look forward to serving the various constituents of the league and its related entities,” Cavanaugh said in the release.
Cavanaugh earned a basketball scholarship to Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn., his undergraduate alma mater.
“Kyle is a highly respected leader with decades of operational experience and an outstanding track record of creating best-in-class workplaces,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Trinity ‘84, said in the release.
