Freshman forward Paolo Banchero of Duke men's basketball has been named ACC Rookie of the Year and sophomore center Mark Williams has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Year, the conference announced Monday morning.
Banchero also made the All-ACC First Team, while junior forward Wendell Moore Jr. made the Second Team, Williams made the Third Team and freshman AJ Griffin was an Honorable Mention. Banchero, Griffin and freshman guard Trevor Keels made the All-Rookie team, and both Williams and Moore made the All-Defensive team.
In addition, head coach Mike Krzyzewski came second in ACC Coach of the Year voting, while Moore received votes for Defensive Player of the Year and freshman Trevor Keels got one vote for Freshman of the Year. Williams and Moore also each received votes for Most Improved Player.
Alondes Williams took home ACC Player of the Year honors, for which Banchero came third in the voting, and Steve Forbes was tabbed ACC Coach of the Year, both hailing from Wake Forest. Meanwhile, Dereon Seabron of N.C. State won Most Improved Player and Matthew Cleveland of Florida State won Sixth Man of the Year.
