With flu season just around the corner, Duke is offering free walk-in flu vaccine clinics over the next few weeks.
Students are expected to “get the flu shot and other required vaccinations by designated deadlines” as per the Duke Compact. Undergraduates at Duke are required to receive their flu vaccine by Nov. 2, while faculty, staff and other employees have until Nov. 9 to do so. After these dates, non-compliant individuals who have not received the proper exemptions can expect to see their Duke Cards deactivated, among other consequences. Faculty and staff may submit an application for a medical or religious exemption before Nov. 1.
Here’s how to get your shot
Students can walk into any of Duke’s student flu clinics across campus between now and Nov. 2; no appointment nor payment is necessary. Some staff and faculty clinics require appointments to be made in advance, though others welcome walk-ins. Dependents of staff and faculty do not need to be covered by a Duke health plan to be eligible for the vaccine. More information about appointments for dependents can be found on Duke’s Fight the Flu website.
After arriving at one of the scheduled clinics, students will need to complete a brief form before receiving their vaccine from a health professional.
