Jones' commitment adds frontcourt depth, something head coach Mike Krzyzewski was looking for.

This offseason has been a busy one so far for the Blue Devils, with Thursday evening being no different.

According to The News & Observer's Steve Wiseman and Scott Fowler, Bates Jones, a graduate transfer from Davidson and the brother of former Duke football quarterback Daniel Jones, has committed to Duke on a scholarship for his final year of eligibility.

Jones, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 2.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.7 minutes per contest for the Wildcats this past season. While his numbers don't jump off the page, any depth in the frontcourt is needed after the recent departures of Matthew Hurt, Patrick Tapé and Jaemyn Brakefield.

Bates and Daniel are not the only Jones siblings to be Blue Devils, with their sister Ruthie currently a goalkeeper on the women's soccer team.
