Duke on Monday reported a cluster of five student COVID-19 cases in the Berkshire Ninth Street apartment complex, according to a news release.
This is the second student cluster Duke has identified this academic year, the first coming among in October 2020 among students in the Solis Brightleaf apartment complex. A cluster is defined by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as five or more linked COVID-19 cases taking place within a 14-day period.
The five infected students are now isolated in a separate location, and contact tracers are working to identify those who may have been in contact with the individuals, according to the news release. Duke has notified the Durham County Health Department.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
