Overview: It’s going to be an interesting season for the Demon Deacons. With a brand-new coaching staff, there was been a lot of turnover since last season. Forbes was an April hire and the team only returns four main contributors from last year. The biggest loss was Brandon Childress, who led the team in scoring and assists over the last two seasons.
But they also possess a lot of young talent. Adams and Okpomo are two talented freshmen and Igraham will make his first appearance after rehabbing his freshman season. They add onto an exciting sophomore class. It’s hard to say exactly how well this team will mesh together with so much turnover, but they definitely have the talent to succeed.
Team ceiling: The most optimistic scenario for this Wake Forest team is an NCAA tournament berth. If everything clicks and Forbes can command control of his relatively new team, they could be competing with the big names in the ACC.
Team floor: The low for this team would be a disastrous season for the Demon Deacons. Forbes previous coaching experience comes from five years at East Tennessee State and three community college stints, so ACC competition will definitely be a new level for the first-year coach. Without Childress, they could just as easily finish at the bottom of the ACC.
