Duke hasn't taken home the ACC regular-season crown since 2010. The media expects that streak to extend another year.
The Blue Devils were selected to finish second in the conference in the ACC's annual preseason media poll, nabbing 34 first-place votes out of the 155 total votes as well as 2146 total points. Virginia was named the ACC favorite, taking 97 first-place votes and 2214 points, while Florida State placed third with 15 first-place votes and 1973 points and North Carolina fourth with seven first-place votes and 1933 points, respectively.
Freshman Jalen Johnson was named to the preseason All-ACC first team, finishing second in Preseason ACC Freshman of the Year voting to Florida State's Scottie Barnes.
Johnson, the No. 13 ranked recruit in the country, nabbed 60 votes for Freshman of the Year, while Barnes, the No. 5 ranked recruit, garnered 64.
Sophomore Wendell Moore Jr. was awarded preseason All-ACC second team honors, with both Moore and fellow sophomore Mathew Hurt Hurt receiving votes for Preseason ACC Player of the Year. Johnson did not garner any Player of the Year votes.
In addition to Johnson, shooting guard DJ Steward, point guard Jeremy Roach and center Mark Williams received votes for Freshman of the Year.
