2019 NCAA tournament preview: Wofford

Wofford Terriers: 29-4, 18-0 in the Southern Conference

Head Coach: Mike Young (17th season)

Players to watch: Fletcher Magee (20.5 PPG, 42.8 3PT%); Cameron Jackson (14.6 PPG, 7.5 RPG), Nathan Hoover (13.3 PPG, 45.7 3PT%)

Season Recap: Shooting, shooting and shooting is how to define this Terriers team, and it’s carried them to a perfect conference season and a top 25 ranking. After dropping a close one to North Carolina in the season opener, Wofford has impressive wins against bubble teams Furman and UNC-Greensboro, as well as a Power 5 win vs. South Carolina. Three of its four losses have come against top 25 opponents to go along with a loss to Oklahoma.

The Terriers rank second in the country in 3-point percentage at 42 percent, led by Fletcher Magee and his unorthodox shooting form. Fellow senior Cameron Jackson is an incredible athlete who has the ability to lock up quick guards as well as bang with big men in the post. One flaw in Wofford’s game comes at protecting the rim, as the Terriers only rank 190th in blocks.

How they make a run: Their shooters catch fire and lead the Terriers to a Stephen Curry and Davidson-esque run.

How they falter: They run into a Power 5 team with too much size and athleticism and get dominated in the paint.
