Entering the 2018-19 season, excitement surrounds the Duke basketball team. The top recruiting class in the country, led by Zion Williamson, perhaps the most exciting player to come out of high school since Lebron James, arrived on campus last week.
And yet, a cloud of uncertainty lingers around the program. No, it’s not due to a recruiting violation or scandal of any sort, but rather of what sophomore guard Alex O’Connell is planning to do with his hair.
When O’Connell came to Duke, he seemed to have a clear direction with his hairstyle—high and tight, with some flip/bangs action. Admirably, he decided to change things up midseason twice, first going with some racing stripes before going for a buzz cut.
But now, the Roswell, Ga. native just seems to be lost.
As most of us know, the transition from buzz cut to full-on lettuce is not too easy. So props to O’Connell for trying the new look. However, it is unclear on if this look works too well for him.
Maybe the sharpshooter will continue to mix things up with his hairdo throughout the season. Don’t be shocked if he decides to don a mullet next.
