After meeting with all of the candidates running for DSG president and Executive Vice President, Duke Diya is proud to endorse Alec Lintz for EVP and Sabriyya Pate for DSG President!
Alec’s view for increasing culture and collaboration throughout DSG both internally and externally were most aligned with the goals of Duke Diya. His personal experiences in DSG have led him to try to create a culture that will not only allow DSG to be more productive as a whole, but allow for organizations such as Diya to have a more effective relationship with DSG. His goal to make DSG a more service-oriented organization also directly encourages one of our own fundamental pillars.
Sabriyya’s focus on increasing a sense of belonging within the Duke community most resonates with Diya’s goals. Her emphasis on increasing diversity within DSG is something that Diya wholeheartedly supports. Sabriyya’s accomplishments in bringing rush to independent communities and menstrual hygiene products to Perkins underscore her ability to spearhead projects and get things done. We believe that her drive to increase transparency within DSG will benefit not only Diya, but all student-run organizations.
While it was incredibly difficult to make a decision because of all of the amazingly accomplished candidates, we are confident that Alec Lintz and Sabriyya Pate will successfully be able to further Diya’s mission at Duke!
Uma Doshi and Ashish Vankara, Co-Presidents of Duke Diya, on behalf of the entire Duke Diya executive board
