The tent village outside Cameron Indoor Stadium will be empty until further notice, a little more than a month before Duke takes on North Carolina at home.
All tenters in Krzyzewskiville received an indefinite grace period beginning at about 10 p.m. Wednesday night due to the high numbers of student illness and the severity of the flu this year. Larry Moneta, vice president for student affairs, asked the line monitors to give all tenters grace, co-head line monitors David Duquette and Sara Constand wrote in an email to the Krzyzewskiville Listserv Wednesday night.
Duquette and Constand wrote in an email to The Chronicle Thursday afternoon that Moneta extended the grace period through at least Monday morning after meeting with them.
There are 70 tent groups currently tenting in Krzyzewskiville, and they are now in the Blue Tenting period, with one person in each group of 12 required to be in the tent during day hours and six of the 12 required during night hours.
Tenters have received more grace than usual this year, with several days at the start of tenting wiped out by the snowstorm in mid-January. The White Tenting period, when only two people in each group need to be in Krzyzewskiville during night hours, begins Feb. 9, and tenting ends Feb. 22. The race to the secret spot to determine which 30 groups will be allowed to participate in White Tenting is still scheduled for Tuesday night at 9 p.m.
The Blue Devils will host the Tar Heels March 3 at 8:15 p.m.
