Engineering Student Government endorses Chinmay Pandit for Young Trustee

The Engineering Student Government endorses Chinmay Pandit for the position of Young Trustee. All four finalists, Chinmay Pandit, Bryce Cracknell, Elizabeth Brown, and Amy Kramer are candidates with incredible potential, and have done amazing jobs as on-campus leaders in their four years at Duke. Having met and interviewed each candidate, the executive board collectively believes that Chinmay’s trustee-level experience, institutional knowledge of Duke, and specific focus on how he would operate on the Board of Trustees makes him the best candidate for Young Trustee.

Chinmay acknowledges Duke as a community of diverse students and actively reaches out to different populations to understand their perspectives. For example, he demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in our discussions on faculty representation and the role of financial aid in shaping the student experience.

Further, we believe that Chinmay’s experience on the Business and Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees equips him to continue advocating for students in the boardroom. His understanding of higher education allows him to contextualize Duke as a growing institution, and his passion is evident through his teaching positions and research on economic and social issues that affect university systems.

As an organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for the Pratt undergraduate student body, we hope that the Young Trustee will continue to work with us to represent the university as a whole. As such, ESG is confident Chinmay Pandit is the best candidate for Young Trustee.
