After addressing the issue of gun violence in his hometown of Chicago earlier this summer, former Duke star Jabari Parker made another statement about social justice early Wednesday morning.
Parker donned the best-selling jersey of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick—whose decision to sit during the national anthem as a sign of protest has drawn widespread criticism and support—for a picture he posted on social media.
With NBA training camp just a few weeks away, the Milwaukee Bucks forward appears to be the first notable player to publicly support Kaepernick.
Parker averaged 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Bucks in his first full year in the NBA. After earning first-team All-American honors at Duke in 2013-14, he suffered a season-ending ACL injury 25 games into his rookie season.
