Duke baseball jousts against Pittsburgh during rain delay

Although the Blue Devils were unable to finish their last game of the regular season Saturday, a rainy day in Pittsburgh did not dampen Duke's spirits.

After a rain delay began with the game tied at one in the fifth inning, the Blue Devils and Panthers passed the time by jousting on the field in foul territory, with players from each team sitting on teammates' shoulders and wielding baseball bats while charging at each other.

This has become a popular activity for college rain delays in recent years, and Longwood acknowledged Duke's joust with a supportive message on Twitter and footage from an old battle of its own.

It was not the first time Duke has had to get creative to stay occupied during a rain delay. Last year, the Blue Devils played football against a group of Clemson players on the baseball field when a game between the two teams was rained out.

Saturday afternoon's game was called less than an hour after the delay started, and both teams left the field safe and sound.

Duke will now return home to start ACC tournament play Tuesday at 11 a.m. against Wake Forest during a sunny week at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
