Tyus Jones inflicted his fair share of damage on Badger fans hoping for their first national title in 74 years.
A year later, Wisconsin fans still have strong feelings for the national-championship winning point guard.
Jones returned to the Kohl Center for a preseason NBA contest between his Minnesota Timberwolves and the Milwaukee Bucks. A year ago, the then-freshman floor general made big plays down the stretch to lead his team to a 80-70 victory on the road against the Badgers. Jones finished with 22 points and six rebounds in the key non-conference victory.
The fans at the preseason contest were sure to let Jones hear it as he brought the ball up the floor.
Of course, Jones' performance in the December contest was little compared to his heroics in the national championship game. With the Badgers leading by as many by nine in the second half, the point guard took over the contest and hit an iconic three-pointer to seal the deal on the Blue Devils' fifth national title.
Jones finished the preseason contest with four points and one assist in just 12 minutes of action. The Apple Valley, Minn., native will make his NBA debut Oct. 28 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Tyus on #Badgers fans booing him: "I guess they hold grudges in Wisc. They hate me here. I’ll take that because I have a championship ring."
