Five-star combo guard Frank Jackson committed to Duke Tuesday evening, joining second-ranked recruit Jayson Tatum as the Blue Devils' second commitment in the Class of 2016.
Jackson announced his decision Tuesday at a press conference at Lone Peak High School, choosing to come to Durham while turning down offers from other suitors, including Stanford and in-state hopefuls BYU and Utah. The 6-foot-3 guard is the No. 14 player in the 2016 ESPN 100 and one of the top high school players at his position, showcasing the ability to both score off the dribble and knock down perimeter jump shots. The Lone Peak, Utah, native has also flashed the ability to get to the line at will and help set up open looks for his teammates.

Jackson’s road to this commitment was a long one and went back to 2013 when Jackson quickly accepted BYU's scholarship offer. After committing to the Cougars, though, Jackson began to have second thoughts, ultimately deciding to decommit and re-open his recruitment. At one time, it was believed that the point guard would serve a two-year mission after graduating from high school and delay his college debut till he was 20.

But although he did not garner major attention on the recruiting circuit during his first three high school seasons, Jackson rocketed up the rankings this summer and has excelled in recent AAU tournaments. His performance certainly caught the eye of Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who extended an offer to Jackson to join what could be a loaded recruiting class.
With Jackson and Tatum in the fold, Harry Giles becomes the next name for Blue Devil fans to pay close attention to. Giles and Tatum—ranked No. 1 and No. 2 respectively in their class—discussed a possible package deal earlier this summer and it appears that Duke is currently the favorite to land the Winston-Salem, N.C., native.
Look for Duke to continue to try and bolster its incoming recruiting class by shifting attention to Giles and center Marques Bolden in the coming months.
