Last time they were in Atlanta, the Blue Devils left with a sour taste in their mouth following their 52-48 loss in the Chick-fil-A Bowl against Texas A&M.
Not this time.
Duke resurrected its chances in the Coastal Division with its statement 31-25 win at No. 22 Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, handing the Yellow Jackets their first loss of the season.
The Blue Devils had lost 10 straight times to Georgia Tech and had been dominated by the Yellow Jackets in every matchup since 2008, when head coach David Cutcliffe took over.
So it's no surprise that Duke was excited following its fifth win of the season and first in ACC play. Redshirt sophomore cornerback Jared Boyd—a reserve from Stone Mountain, Ga.—posted a celebratory video on Instagram of the postgame celebration.
Following their triumphant return to Atlanta, the Blue Devils had no problem singing, "We don't give a damn about the whole state of Georgia."
Boyd later took down the video.
Duke will look to back up its performance next week against another Coastal Division rival, Virginia, in the Blue Devils' homecoming game at 12:30 p.m. at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Although Duke might not have such a raucous celebration if they knock off the Cavaliers, a win would be just as important to its season as its win against Georgia Tech. Virginia is unbeaten in ACC play and has been the surprise team of the conference so far.
