Recruiting Roundup: Jeter and Kennard earn Gatorade POY honors in respective states

It was a quiet week on the recruiting trail, with most of the basketball world focusing on March Madness and high school seasons coming to an end.

Luke Kennard made his final game for Franklin count, as he scored 41 points and finished second all-time on the Ohio Basketball scoring list. Kennard was also named the AP Division II state Player of the Year and Gatorade Player of the Year in Ohio.

Kennard’s future teammate, Chase Jeter, was also picked up some hardware this week as he too was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Nevada.

Continuing with the Class of 2015, five-star wing wing Brandon Ingram has been added to the Nike Hoop Summit Roster, as he will replace Marquette-commit Henry Ellenson on the team. The Summit will be April 11 in Portland, Ore. Ingram will join Kennard, Jeter, and another potential Blue Devil commit in big man Caleb Swanigan in participating.

Finally, Duke could suffer a recruiting blow if associate head coach Jeff Capel takes the Arizona State job, which he was reportedly offered Tuesday. Capel is one of the best recruiters in the business and helped the Blue Devils land their star-studded recruiting class; he is known for being especially good at recruiting and working with big men, which is why a potential departure could be huge.
