The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is confident in our endorsement of Keizra Mecklai for DSG President. After meeting with both candidates, NPHC believes that Mecklai will be an amazing representative of the student body. Through utilizing her strong voice she will bring attention to the concerns of all students, with minority students in mind as well, to the administration. During her time as VP of Equity and Outreach she has accumulated an impressive number of accomplishments, many of which stemmed from original ideas. She has been a powerful voice in starting conversations surrounding mental health and other social stigmas on campus. In fact, she has fearlessly spoken her mind even when met with resistance. As a senator Mecklai pioneered the “What I Be project” and began dialogues about diversity in various Greek councils. We believe that Mecklai’s genuine passion for equity and her outstanding track record as a senator in regards to her tangible achievements make her the best candidate.
In addition to her DSG credentials, we believe that Mecklai has proven herself to be an efficient leader with wide spread connections across the Duke Community. Her ability to successfully organize and execute large-scale philanthropy events as Service Coordinator of Alpha Phi shows Mecklai’s competence as a team leader. Mecklai has a nuanced understanding of various cultural groups and has demonstrated a willingness to learn more.
