Duke Democrats will endorse Keizra Mecklai for DSG president. We believe that both Shaker Samman and John Guarco would be excellent candidates for executive vice president.
Sexual assault is the most pressing concern facing Duke University and colleges everywhere. We believe that Keizra Mecklai and John Guarco's work on the Equity and Outreach Committee demonstrates that they would make the prevention of sexual assault a priority if they are elected. Additionally, they have the vision to enact real reforms including and beyond expanding and improving PACT training.
We're also deeply concerned about the future of voting on campus in the wake of the Republican-controlled state government's efforts at voter suppression. We believe that Keizra Mecklai and Shaker Samman have the deepest understanding of the challenges ahead of us at the polls. With local elections in the fall and presidential primaries in the spring, it's never been more important to get prepared for this new era of voting, and we believe these are the two candidates who will best turn out students to the polls.
