Whether it is in Durham or Washington, D.C., Reggie Love has always surrounded himself with great company.
Love, a former walk-on and personal assistant to President Barack Obama, has now penned a book about his time with two of the more prominent leaders in the nation in President Obama and Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. The book—Power Forward: My Presidential Education—is scheduled to release Feb. 3.
Love was a former Duke walk-on, playing for the Blue Devils from 2001-05. In the book, he details his experience of making the team and winning a national championship in his first year to becoming a captain
"Love recounts his years as a Duke walk-on and member of the 2001 championship team," publisher Simon & Schuster said in an email. "Challenged daily by Coach K, Love went from bench-warming guard to an undersized, overachieving forward, and ultimately a captain of the 04-05 team."
Upon his graduation, Love became a personal assistant to then-Illinois junior senator Barack Obama, leading the way as Obama went through the election process and became the 44th President of the United States in 2008.
"Love navigated the campaign trail to the White House," Simon & Schuster said. "Along the way he found himself organizing pickup games during the New Hampshire primary to babysitting the children of foreign dignitaries to debate wardrobe malfunctions, but also realized the values that make a young professional."
Love now works as a business man in the private sector.
