Four-star outside linebacker Ben Humphreys announced his commitment to Duke as part of the Class of 2015 yesterday, according to multiple reports.
According to Blue Devil insider Adam Rowe, Humphreys had some strong words about why he chose Duke.
Made my dreams come true! Top-10 academics, great people and coaches, and a program that has the most hype around it in the nation right now.
The Mater Dei High School product also showed his excitement by announcing his commitment on twitter.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Santa Ana, Calif. also held offers from several Pac-12 schools, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Duke's Coastal Division rival Miami. His ability to cover a lot of ground from his linebacker position made him a coveted target.
Humphreys is listed as a three-star recruit by ESPN, but is classified as a four-star player by 247 and Rivals.
Humphreys is the 17th Class of 2015 commit reeled in by head coach David Cutcliffe and the Blue Devil coaching staff; his decision only strengthens a class that was recently ranked in the top 25 nationally.
Four-star tight end Tyler Petite and four-star wide receiver Keyston Fuller headline the class, but Humphreys will join a deep, talented group that has a chance to get better in the coming weeks.
Four-star safety Rashad Roundtree still has yet to announce and is considering Duke, as are recruits all across the country with the program's revival.
Blue Devil safeties coach Matt Guerrieri and first-year wide receivers coach Jeff Faris showed their appreciation on twitter when they learned of Humphreys' commitment yesterday.
