2014 NCAA tournament preview: Wofford

Wofford Terriers

Record: 20-12

Head coach: Mike Young (25th season)

Season summary: Wofford has ended the regular season on a tear, winning 13 of its last 15 games. Not an offensive powerhouse, the Terriers are known more for their work on the defensive end, surrendering just 62.4 points per game. On the offensive side of things, Wofford will utilize a consistent motion offense and look to make Michigan work for a full 35 seconds each possession. Look for sharpshooting junior Karl Cochran (15.7 PPG)—voted the most outstanding player in the Southern Conference—to be the top dog in the Terriers' offense. Spencer Collins and Lee Spencer are solid secondary scorers for Wofford, but don't expect much firepower to come off the bench.

How they make a run: The Terriers may want to swap their Nikes for glass slippers before the first-round game, but ferocious defense and an uncharacteristically strong offensive performance could give them a chance.

How they falter: Wofford is undersized—they don’t have a single player above 6-foot-8—and that dearth of rim protection and post presence might dog the Terriers in their opening round matchup.
