ESPN announced its television schedule for its Big Monday broadcasts for the 2013-14 season Wednesday, revealing that Duke will play two Monday night ACC contests next season.
The Blue Devils will host Virginia Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. and will travel to the Petersen Events Center to face new ACC foe Pittsburgh Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. ESPN is scheduled to air eight ACC games on Monday night next season, between Jan. 13 and March 3.
“ESPN Big Monday provides a terrific window to further showcase ACC Basketball,” ACC Commissioner John Swofford said in a press release. “This opportunity provides our players, coaches and fans with unprecedented appointment viewing, and it will be exciting to watch all 15 member schools compete throughout the season.”
ESPN's Monday night television slot was previously occupied by the Big East, which splintered during the summertime when Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame joined the ACC and its seven Catholic schools formed a new Big East conference. That left the conference's remaining members to form the American Athletic Conference.
Duke did not play a single game on a Monday during the 2012-13 season. The majority of the Blue Devils' ACC contests played on weeknights took place on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
