Justise Winslow trims list to 8, keeps Duke and cuts Baylor

Houston forward Justise Winslow, the No. 15 player in the Class of 2015 according to ESPN, has cut his list of schools to eight. These schools are Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Kansas, Texas A&M, Arizona, Stanford and UCLA, according to ESPN Senior National Recruiting Analyst Dave Telep, who revealed this last night on ESPNU's broadcast of Winslow's AAU team, Houston Hoops, taking on Duke commit Grayson Allen and E1T1 at the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando, Fla.

“I just thought it was time to get serious and cut the list down,” Winslow said Thursday in a postgame interview with ESPNU.

Generic Script

Among the notable schools cut from Winslow's list are North Carolina, Houston and Baylor. The Bears were the most significant player among the schools recently knocked out of contention for Winslow. Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor were expected to take an official visit to Baylor with Winslow in late August. Jones and Okafor, who are among the most notable package deals in the history of college basketball recruiting, have also expressed interest in playing with Winslow in college as well.

Baylor is the only official visit Jones has set up. He said at last week's Nike Global Challenge in Washington D.C. that he still plans to take that visit, but there is no indication as to whether or not those plans may change now that Winslow has cut Baylor from his list.

Duke is now just one of three schools with scholarship offers out to Jones, Okafor and Winslow. The other two are Kansas and Kentucky. The Wildcats just offered Winslow a scholarship last week, but it was enough to keep them in his final eight.
