Duke redshirt junior Anthony Boone will serve as a counselor at the Manning Passing Academy, which began Thursday and will run through Sunday on the campus of Nichols State University in Thibodaux, La.
The annual camp was first held in 1996 and is run by Archie, Cooper, Peyton and Eli Manning. The camp is designed to coach high school quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.
"I’m certainly thankful for the opportunity and excited to represent Duke University and our football program," Boone said in a press release. “I’m looking forward to working with the kids and spending time with the other college quarterbacks from around the country.”
Boone will take over as Duke's full-time starting quarterback this season, replacing longtime starter Sean Renfree. He appeared in 12 games last season, completing 51.6 percent of his passes for 531 yards, throwing five touchdowns and two interceptions and also running for two scores. Boone made the first start of his career against Virginia Oct. 6, 2012, and completed 18-of-31 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns in a decisive victory.
Peyton and Eli Manning both played for Duke head coach David Cutcliffe during their college careers. Cutcliffe was Peyton's offensive coordinator at Tennessee and was the head coach at Ole Miss during Eli's collegiate career. Peyton has made trips to Durham each of the last two springs to work with Cutcliffe, with Eli joining him in April 2013 for a three-day mini-camp with a group of wide receivers from their respective teams.
