Duke basketball returns to No. 1 in the AP Poll

They're baaaaaaaaaaack.

Duke basketball returned to No. 1 in this week's AP Poll, a week after slipping to No. 3 in the rankings following the team's first loss of the season to N.C. State. In the last week, however, the previous No. 1 and No. 2—Louisville and Indiana—both lost. The Cardinals fell to Syracuse while Indiana was a victim of Wisconsin's gritty defense.

Duke received 39 of the 65 first-place votes this week.

Here is the newest top 10: Duke, Michigan, Kansas, Syracuse, Louisville, Arizona, Indiana, Florida, Butler and Gonzaga. Kansas and Syracuse are tied for third.

Michigan received 11 first-place votes while the Jayhawks and Orange got seven and eight, respectively.

N.C. State lost to Maryland last week and is now No. 18. There is also now a third ACC team in the rankings: No. 25 Miami.

The Blue Devils face Miami on the road Wednesday.
