Bowl eligible for the first time since 1994, Duke football is currently awaiting its official invitation later today. But a lot of the surprise may be gone.
ESPN college football reporter Brett McMurphy reported earlier this afternoon that Duke will receive an invitation to square off with co-Big East regular season champion Cincinnati at the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. The game will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 at Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers.
More bowls lining up: Clemson (Chick-fil-A); RU vs. VT (Russell Athletic); Cincy vs. Duke (Belk); Ga Tech (Sun), NC State (Music City)— Brett McMurphy (@McMurphyESPN) December 2, 2012
McMurphy also reported Clemson would play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, Virginia Tech would face Rutgers in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, Fla., Georgia Tech would play in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas and N.C. State would play in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tenn.
The Blue Devils await the official decision of their bowl destination, which should be released later this afternoon.
